Immortal Defense

Beat the first few campaigns of Immortal Defense, a tower defense game. It’s pretty decent. I’ll probably complete it, eventually.

Update

Posted by Tracy Poff on March 17, 2010

Played a bit of Rock Band 2 yesterday, and learned that singing while tired isn’t one of my skills. I barely managed 90% on several songs, and the less said about my rendition of Opening Band, the better.

Also played a pinball game on the NES called High Speed. It’s a Williams table and the NES game is basically identical to the NES version of Pin*Bot, with a different table. Kind of nice, but the graphics were bad enough that I had trouble telling which parts of the table were bumpers and which were ramps and such. I prefer Pin*Bot.

Played Big Nose the Caveman, an NES platformer. It was pretty fun, though I didn’t do very well at it. I’ll have to try again some time.

Beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Posted by Tracy Poff on March 16, 2010

Beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles yesterday. That’s not quite as big an accomplishment as I’d like, since I’d beaten the Sonic 3 part some months ago and I beat Sonic & Knuckles fifteen years ago, give or take, but it’s the first time I’ve completed the combined games, so I suppose it’s worthy of a little celebration. I’ve yet to successfully collect all the chaos emeralds, though (this time through, I had five), so there’s still a bit more for me to do. Actually, I don’t believe I’ve ever collected every chaos emerald on any Sonic game, so that’s a project I’ll have to take up in the future.

Played a bit more pinball last night, though I was quite tired and didn’t do so well. Even if I hadn’t been tired, I wouldn’t have fared much better, because the ball kept going straight from the plunger to the outlanes, without so much as a by-your-leave.

At some point in the last week or so, I completed some more OCDs on World of Goo, bringing my totals to 10 OCD, 734 balls, 1928 moves, and 8223 seconds.

Also beat the first fourteen or so missions on Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. The mission where you have to dodge bowls (or pots or something) on the road is very hard compared to the others.

Update

Posted by Tracy Poff on March 14, 2010

Played a bit more pinball. Got the top score on Pin*Bot. It really doesn’t react quite the same as the NES version of that table, so it took a bit of unlearning before I could manage a reasonable showing.

Tried out Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing; it’s pretty much exactly Mario Kart. So, not bad, but not really original, either. I only saw a few of the courses, but I’d say they’re of comparable quality to the ones in Mario Kart Wii. The King of the Hill mode looks promising, but with only two players wasn’t much fun–I presume it can be played on WFC, so that might be worth checking out.

The genesis emulator on my Wii is misbehaving, and I want to play Sonic. I may have to just hook up a real genesis. I even have wireless controllers for the genesis, so it’s practically the same thing. It’s just a pain to have to dig out the genesis to do it. I could also hook my PC up to my TV, but that’s also annoying. Maybe I’ll just play it on my PC with the normal monitor, though that lacks in charm, somewhat.

Beat World of Goo

Posted by Tracy Poff on March 10, 2010

Beat World of Goo. I estimate it took about 4 hours to clear (my profile reads ~5.25 hours, but I spent time messing around in World of Goo Corporation, and also accidentally left it running for most an hour). I can only reiterate how awesome it is. I intend to make an attempt at the OCD goals; I should be able to get a fair few–I got six without even trying. I got GooTool, so I can see some nice stats about my game. Currently: 6 OCD, 728 balls, 2005 moves, and 8882 total seconds. Each of these represents the totals of the best I’ve done on a particular level for each stat.

I’ve also been playing Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection for the Wii. It’s really quite good–it controls well and several of the tables are pretty cool. I especially like Pin*Bot (which brings back memories of the NES version, which I also liked quite a bit), Space Shuttle, and Black Knight. I’ve unlocked free play on all tables (now what do I do with all those extra credits?) and also beaten the wizard goals on Space Shuttle. It’ll probably take a while before I manage that on the rest of the tables, though I’m not too far off on some.

I’ve been playing Happy Dance Collection a bit, and unlocked Mirror Mode. I really need to go through the campaign mode eventually, rather than just playing in the quick play mode, particularly since I’m guessing that doing that will unlock extra songs. Well, someday.

Got We Cheer and tried it out–it’s much harder than Happy Dance Collection, in my opinion, but it looks like it might be fun once I get a little better at it. That’s assuming I can stand the music, of course–some of the songs are pretty atrocious. Of course, that’s true of Happy Dance Collection, too.
